Meribel snow report 01/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Meribel
There is 175cm of snow at the top of the Meribel ski area with 112cm in resort. There was 10cm of snow that fell yesterday with a lot more predicted for today.
98% of the runs are open here in Meribel with 40 of the 42 ski lifts open also.
A whopping 24cm of snow is expected to fall over the course of the day, with temperatures hitting a max of 1c.
Saturday: Slightly less snowy than today but still a dump of 9cm expected with the max temperature hitting -10c, so no sunglasses or light clothes!
Sunday: We are expecting a blue-sky day with temperatures staying around the -10c mark. With all this powder Sunday will be absolutely stunning.
The ski conditions at the moment are absolutely great, with about 15cm of fresh powder fallen over the last few days. This morning we all woke up to snowy flurries which means Meribel has plenty of snow to play around with! Tomorrow will be fresh cords after the piste bashers do their thing, and today will be fantastic for freestyle skiers on and off piste! But carvers shouldn’t worry because there is tons of untouched pisted snow for them to practice their turns on throughout the day!
This week Meribel has seen some fantastic days, with blue skies and temperatures rising, après ski has been full to capacity with the infamous Folie Douce and The Rond Point blasting music out every afternoon. Not that anyone’s skiing has suffered as a result however, as the mountains are alive with 100’s of skiers and boarders carving up the absolutely epic snow that we have had falling at the beginning of the week. There has been a slight buzz in Meribel amongst French and British alike about the upcoming Six Nations and who will triumph. Well we shall have to wait and see, but if England bring home a win you can be assured Meribel will hear about it!
