Les Gets Snow Report 20 Mar 2012

Les Gets, FranceFresh snow covers the mountains after Sunday& Monday’s snowfall. Upper slopes have 200cm and in resort the runs have a depth of 65cm.

It is so nice to have some fresh snow here in and all the trees and mountains are looking beautiful with their white covering of powder. The resort is pretty quiet now after the busy half term period and lift queues are virtually non existent again so we can get as much skiing in as possible !  Mont Chery was particularly lovely yesterday and there were lots of people heading for the powder fields and the trees. It looks like its going to be a perfect sunny day today, the pistes have been groomed to perfection this morning and all you can hear by the slopes this morning is the swoosh of skis on corduroy. The Chamossiere red run Arbis is going to be great fun this morning as the Point de Nyon will be too with its winding curves. It is due to stay fairly cold today so the snowman who is just outside my window will be happy today.
The forecast for the rest of the week is for sun with a few clouds, the temperatures will be rising a little making it perfect weather to sit outside and eat tartiflette. Its time to top up those goggle marks again!!!
Also this week in Les Gets we have two very exciting events starting, tonight is the opening party for the annual Ebouelle contest – a freestyle competition which also includes an art competition and live music concerts over the course of the week. It looks like its going to be a good one, the jump that they are building for it at the bottom of the Chavannes slopes is massive so get ready to see some crazy air!!! The other very exciting event is of course the Rock the Pistes music festival which starts on Saturady kicking off in les gets with a concert by Louis Bertignac at the Folliets chairlift.
