Les Gets Snow Report, 16 Mar 2010

Les GetsAt the highest point of Les Gets (2002m) there is currently 150cm of snow and at 1172m the is 70cm. With 67/67, all the runs are currently open today and 50/52 lifts!

The ski conditions so far this week have been very enjoyable.  The sun has been shining and the temperatures have been warming up making for very pleasant skiing.  The clear skies mean that the spectacular views of Morzine can be seen really well from the top of Pointe de Nyon and Chamossier and whilst skiing down the red run Melezes, you can often spot hot air balloons cruising across the sky.

Today the sun is shining with a few clouds and this is due to continue throughout Wednesday with bright sunshine taking its place on Thursday.  The temperatures this week are set to get a little warmer, rising to 2°C on Thursday and 5°C on Friday. Maybe it’s time to get those T shirts out?

There is plenty going on in resort this week. The whole family can enjoy giant games outside the Tourist Office later this afternoon and there is also an organ recital at the church this evening.

On Thursday evening there is a torch lit stroll with stories in the snow and you can wander through the forest of Les Gets while a storyteller recites the local Alpine fairytales.  You will be led to a roaring fire in the middle of the forest and provided with hot chocolate to warm you up ready for the last story.
