Les Gets snow report 14.12.2012
The latest snow report from our team in Les Gets
Snow is still nice and deep on the mountain. The snow at the top of the ski area is currently around 150cm. Down in resort we’ve got plenty of snow too, it’s roughly 80cm deep at the moment. There was a heavy snow fall in resort on 8/12/12 giving us a good amount of snow, and there have been some light showers since. We are expecting some more snowfall in the next few days.
It’s going to be slightly warmer in resort over the next few days, with a high of 0 and lows of -4. We’re expecting plenty of snow showers starting off on Friday afternoon with some light showers and getting heavier on Saturday and Sunday.
Most of the lifts open up on the 15th December ready for the start of the season. All have been tested and some have already been in operation over the weekend, with local visitors skiing here on the 8th and 9th. The Mont Chery lift however opens on the 22nd December.
Runs will be open as of the 15th December. Some were open last weekend and all have been pisted ready for the season to start. Some are still getting skied though, with people hiking up to try out the runs.
The conditions on the mountains are still great and should remain perfect for the start of the season. The recent snowfalls mean that the powder is nice and fresh on the mountains, just ready to be skied. Piste bashers have been out in force getting the slopes ready for first guests, so all will be ready to be skied as soon as the lifts open up. With a slightly later opening than the Chavannes, Mont Chery has a bit more time to prepare, and with more snow expected in the next few days, conditions over that side are going to be amazing when it does open.
For the younger guests there’s the trappers and Indians themed ski run that can only be accessed by children. And for those who want to take in a bit of the local culture there is the weekly market held not far from chalet Monet.
