Les Gets Snow Report, 12 Mar 2010

Les Gets Chair LiftAt the highest point of Les Gets (2002m) there is currently 150cm of snow.

The amount of snow at 1172m is 70cm.

The temperatures throughout the week have been averaging -10 which has meant the snow has been kept in fabulous condition.  The snow machines have been working overtime in resort, for the lower slopes that have been a little patchy.  However overall the ski conditions have been very enjoyable this week.

A great run that has been enjoyed this week is the long cruising blue in Morzine called Lievre.  It is a lovely track that goes through the trees and down to the chair TS de Fys.  There is the perfect opportunity for a hot chocolate stop at the bottom of the chair lift where you can sit outside, admire the horses on the local farm and enjoy a van chaud for only 1 euro…bargain!

The weather forecast for the next three days is looking good.  Today it will be sunny and cloudy with temperatures dropping to -5, tomorrow is looking similar with temperatures staying the same and clear skies and bright sunshine in the morning, sunshine and cloud in the afternoon.  Sunday will bring a mixture of sunshine and snow later in the day.

Tomorrow there is a freestyle ski contest running throughout the day.  Starting at 10am and running through until 8.30pm there are many activities and events to be observed.  Finishing with a bang when skiers will do some amazing jumps over the street outside of the tourist office.
