Les Arcs Snow Report, 02 March 2010
The end of last week saw huge amounts of snow fallen, perhaps the most all season, coming down heavily on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This means that all runs, now thoroughly piste-bashed offer fantastic skiing. While there is snow all the way down to Villaroger, it is a little heavier which works well for those looking to have tranquil run down the lowest point in Les Arcs. All the runs above 1600 are excellent with snow being both firm and fresh enough to allow those really looking to complete technical turns, and soft enough that a fall has a little bit of cushioning. All round skiing has rarely been better in Les Arcs this season.
There is now 210m of snow up at 3,300m and 90m of snow around Arc 2000. The last snowfall was on Sunday. The forecast for the next few days is for sunshine today, then a nice top-up of snow on Wednesday and then for the sun to return the following day. Overall the forecast looks like this week should be a good one!
The ESF big air show, the synchronised skiing and torch-lit descent has all become a regular and popular feature in resort. With the X-Games in the Alps next week there is a slight air of excitement and many skiers and boarders are spending more time in the snow-park. A local venue hosted one of the best bands of the season which allowed everyone to have exceptionally good night!
