The weather this week in Courchevel has been best ascertained by looking out of the window. This is usually the best way of finding out exactly how the lower atmosphere is interacting with The Alps’ pesky terrestrial lumps and bumps, but isn’t especially helpful for those setting off at 9am hoping for a full day on the slopes, only to be caught out by that rogue westerly low and its thick precipitate and poor visibility. Fortunately, the meteorological boffins have been overly pessimistic this week, bringing bad news that turned out to be plain wrong. Like a raclette that looks to be down and out but just keeps on delivering that warm cheesy goodness, the sun above Courchevel has silenced the doubters with halcyon days and lingering pink sunsets. Next week’s forecast is relatively balmy – fingers crossed for the forecasters, both for the weather and for their job security…
