Courchevel Snow Report 22/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel
There is 245cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area with 177cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on 21st March with around 10cm falling.
There are 80% of pistes open in the Courchevel ski area with 77% ski lifts open.
“Don’t try this at home” was not heard at the X Games in Tignes on Wednesday, maybe implied, definitely assumed, but not actually said. Watching the world’s best and craziest freestyle skiers and snowboarders obviously had an effect on us seasonnaires, who on Thursday promptly trudged to the deepest, steepest powder in Courchevel 1850, and set about building a kicker. After an hour digging and compacting snow in the sunshine, we stood back and admired our work, and the eminently more difficult task of building the courage to actually jump it, let alone do a trick. Screams and yelps could be heard across the Creux side of the valley, accompanying various flailing movements and powdery puffs. With one successful backflip and no breaks or (serious) injuries, we can count ourselves extremely lucky, with some of us even honorary members of the ‘upside-down club’. Tignes 2014, watch out.
