Writing about barbecues three days ago now seems a bit foolish. The temperature has plummeted, deck chairs and sun loungers have retreated back into storage, tails between their legs, and snow is again on the horizon. Not just a late season sprinkling, harking back to powder days past, but a full-blooded deluge, comparable to anything we have seen so far this season. Purples, reds and yellows all over the atmospheric chart, giving renewed hope to the fat skis who thought they were off to the knacker’s yard. Combined with the drop in temperature, this really does bode well for April, pushing back the slush and mush and mud and crud for another couple of halcyon weeks. We wait with bated breath.
