Courchevel snow report 15.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel.

There is 172cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area and 118cm in resort. The last snowfall saw 6 cm come down yesterday. The forecast weather is for alternating cloud and sun but it will remain cold in resort.

There are 115 of the 119 runs open with 50 of the 57 Courchevel lifts open.

Jack, our rep in Courchevel, has sent us the following report.

What do three gorillas, a red elephant and Superman have in common? Strangely enough all five of these life-size sculptures (along with friends crocodile, wolf and panther) co-exist peacefully in Courchevel, helicoptered in for the viewing pleasure and bemusement of the town’s residents. The peculiarly placed sculptures have come to the fore as the throb of guests milling around at the top of lifts and in Courchevel’s squares have melted away like snow in the inevitable April sun. New year and Christmas, both Anglican and Orthodox, have been and gone, leaving the resort fur and queue-free. With sparsely populated lifts and alternating days of snow and sun, January appears to be the hidden jewel in the Alps’ most glamorous resort’s considerable crown.
