Courchevel Snow Report 12/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel
There is 200cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area with 132cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on today with around 2cm falling.
There are 95 out of 119 of pistes open in the Courchevel ski area with 55 out of 71 ski lifts open.
Deck chairs are out in full force in Courchevel this week as après ski prepares for the beginning of the barbecue season. Last lift skiers used to have to chase the limping Winter sun down the mountain, hoping that they arrived home before it dipped pitifully behind the Col de la Loze. For the resurgent Spring sun however, the Loze proves no such obstacle and bathes the sun traps of the ever-greener valley in a fuzzy afternoon glow.
Imperceptible for the weekly holidaymaker, it is difficult to observe the coming of spring and the inevitable ending of the season without looking back: sitting in children’s’ vomit on the bus vs the thrill of deep powder, blisters from ill-fitting boots vs table dancing in the Folie Douce. The best cure for these growing melancholic tendencies? Skiing in the sunshine, which is where I am going right now, and not a moment too soon!
