Courchevel Snow Report 12/02/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel

There is 229cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area with 151cm of snow in resort. It is currently snowing in resort with around 10cm forecast for today.

109 of the 119 ski runs in Courchevel are open today with 48 of the 57 ski lifts also open.

Andy Starkey, a guest in the Hotel Crystal 2000 tweeted today that there is “Powder powder everywhere in courchevel. Boot deep on piste, waist deep off. Bluebird day tomorrow”

Now for the latest installment from our skier poet Jack Pinnock

Having told all of this week’s guests that it was not going to snow today, of course I look out the window only to see another persistent blizzard. The amount of snow over the last 7 days has been truly astonishing – it is almost like someone bet the sky that it couldn’t snow continually for 7 days, and the sky, with some kind of inferiority complex borne from a deep-seated childhood playground experience, turned round and said ‘I bet I can snow all week’, and sure enough, it has. The Trois Vallees is a powdery wonderland again, although in such conditions skiers are staying closer to their own resort. On Wednesday though the sun is due (assuming that the sky finally realises that the point has been unequivocally proven) so expect forays far and wide: Saint Martin, La Masse and Orelle all become a pleasurable possibility again. Powder skiing and sunshine – fingers crossed…
