Courchevel snow report 08/02/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel
There is 255cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area with around 159cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was yesterday with a lovely 25cm falling.
93 of the 119 ski runs are open here in Courchevel with 41 of the 57 ski lifts also open.
Now for the latest installment from our skier poet Jack Pinnock
Powder powder everywhere, and all of it to ski; Dropping off the mountain top, have I ever felt so free?
Powder powder everywhere, atop my bended knee; Mountain mountain dear beloved, will you marry me?
Euphoria, realised in fluffy drifts and gently contoured couloirs and tree-lined gorges, is an emotion etched across the covered faces of every skier or boarder this week. Confusion: at the depth of snow. Pain: powder surrounding toes and inadequate socks. Panic: when you fall (an inevitability) and are temporarily covered by the silent powdery blanket. Delusion: when you realise you are on a season in the 3 Valleys and you don’t really know why, or even how, or where you were yesterday, or why you are off-piste under an avalanche cannon in an Arctic blizzard. All followed by a reminisce at Ku De Ta’s happy hour. Courchevel, I love you.
(Shout out to the only confirmed reader of this blog, who is in Courchevel next week: you’re in for a good one!)
