Courchevel Snow Report 05/03/2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Courchevel
There is 200cm of snow at the top of the Courchevel ski area with 136cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on 24th Feb with around 12cm falling.
There are 95 out of 119 of pistes open in the Courchevel ski area with 55 out of 71 ski lifts open.
Sat in the deckchairs and outdoor bars on the piste and around the town, Courchevel seems to be in the amber throes of an Indian summer. Despite the warming temperatures and steepling sun, good old north-facing Courch is avoiding the worst of the melt and the endless toil of the piste bashers is reaping considerable rewards, with on-piste skiing conditions belying the inevitable march of Spring. With lift opening hours extended, allowing for a full eight hours of skiing, weary legs return from across the Three Valleys to enjoy a cold beer before the sun drops behind the Col de la Loze. Tiredness, complete with the streaky red faces of people who hastily added suncream on balmy chairlifts, is a sign of content. Long may the Indian summer continue.
