Avoriaz snow report 29.01.2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Avoriaz

There is a massive 250cm of snow at the top of the Avoriaz ski area and 210cm of snow at resort level. The last snowfall was yesterday when a huge 22cm fell.

98% of the runs are open, just one black remains closed with 33 of Avoriaz ski lifts open.

Moderate rain is expected this evening however never fear this is expected to turn to snow as the temperature drops throughout the night. Wind will generally be light and Wednesday and Thursday days will remain sunny and clear.

The snow conditions yesterday were idyllic. The dump of awaited snow covered the slopes in amazing powder, leading to an enjoyable day negotiating the newly acquired bumps and lumps. The areas around the interet and fornet lifts were particularly amazing made even better by the bright blue skies and sunshine.

At 6pm this evening there is a torchlit decent by the ESF which is always a magical sight followed by vin chaud offered by the local supermarkets. The main event this week is the amateur competition at the chapelle snowpark which is due to take place on Wednesday!
