Avoriaz snow report 18.12.2012

Here is the latest snow report from our team in Avoriaz

We are pleased to report that at the top of the Avoriaz ski area there is approximately 185cm of snow. Down in resort there is even 155cm. On the 17th December was the last time snow fell, with an approximate 25 cm believing to have fallen.

The forecast for the next 3 days is a moderate fall of snow, heaviest on Tuesday morning. Becoming mild with drizzle, on Thursday morning. Freeze-thaw conditions (max 1°C on Thursday morning, min -19°C on Tuesday night). Wind will be generally light.

74% of the Avoriaz area is open. All 5 green slopes, 24/25 blues, 5/14 red runs and 3/6 blacks. 30 lifts are open in the Avoriaz area.

The snow conditions in Avoriaz could not be better! The pistes are covered in powder, making the runs exciting and also pleasurable. However, visibility over the past few days and in to today remains an issue. Over towards the prodains lift yesterday, particularly at the top of the lac interets lift visibility was very poor, with very few people even bothering to attempt the normally enjoyable wide pisted blues down to the bottom. However, the Linderets valley, down towards Ardent and The Stash snowpark with its tree lined runs offered much clearer and also quieter pistes, resulting in a fantastic ski experience for all.
