Alpe D’Huez snow report 01.01.2013
Here is the latest snow report from our team in Alpe D’Huez
The snow at the top of the ADH ski area is 240cm with 115cm in resort. The last snowfall came on the 28th December. 12cm of snow is forecast for Alpe D’Huez over the next 48 hours.
There are 145 runs open here in ADH and 69 of the 72 lifts are open.
Alpe D’Huez has seen some beautifully
sunny weather recently, which unfortunately has melted some of the snow, in turn frozen over night, so the snow lower down is icy in places and is hard. At the top of the mountain it hasn’t quite been warm enough to melt the snow, so higher up the mountain the powder is packed. On the other hand, you can ski under the warm glow of the sun; sit outside at lunchtimes and enjoy the stunning views of the mountains. We’re just waiting for another dump of snow to replenish the powder.
Well, we’ve welcomed in the new year, and survived the end of the world – so really, things can only get better from here on out. The future champions of the slalom will be gathering on the 5th of January on the giant slalom, more than 600 children will be competing as part of the Energiapura Atomic Cup.
