We are pleased to offer you a convenient pre-bookable service for ski/board and boot hire, tuition and lift passes. The big advantages are that everything is arranged for you in advance, prices are guaranteed against currency fluctuation, and you can relax and look forward to a smoother first day in resort.
Your equipment hire and lesson vouchers will be in your Welcome Pack ready for you immediately on arrival, and your lift passes will be delivered to you either on arrival or by breakfast time on your first morning, so you can hit the slopes without delay.
Ski School
European Snowsport ski and board lessons for all levels start at the Sunegga Base station in front of the large piste map on Monday and Tuesday. This area is the best terrain to assess groups and ski levels. It also has the best beginner’s terrain for learning with a standard progression.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the meeting place is at the Matterhorn Express Base Station in front of the large piste map (in Zermatt not Furi) and this ensures that guests get a chance to ski all of Zermatt's ski areas.
Times are the same for adults and children so parents can drop off and pick up their offspring appropriately.
For children there is a Kid's Academy for children aged 6 -12 and a Teen Academy for 13 year olds with morning or full day with lunch options.
The ski school can also provide experienced guides and private instructors should you wish to experience the thrill and spectacular high Alpine scenery of Zermatt's legendary off-piste touring routes.
Aprés Ski
The range of non-skiing and après skiing facilities here is truly impressive and could easily use up more energy than the skiing. Apart from the virtually unlimited leisure facilities, there are dozens of watering holes and restaurants to suit every taste.
After skiing, try one of the rustic bars or tea rooms and later there are live bands, bars and discos galore. Don’t miss the Post, which crams in half a dozen venues from live jazz to disco, whilst the ultra-modern Vernissage and rustic Alt Hischi offer an appealing contrast.

The Skiing
Over 95% of the slopes are over 2,000m, extending upwards to the highest top station in Europe. From here at 3,800m there is an unbeatable 2,200m drop of skiing back to the resort – not to be attempted without at least one pit-stop on the way!
There are three main ski areas. The Klein Matterhorn has morale-boosting open runs and superb off-piste toward and over the Italian border into Cervinia. The Gornergrat at 3,100m has a choice of wide, flattering runs and some of the most difficult skiing in the region – the Triftji bumps are some of the best in Europe. From here you can ski across to the Sunnegga, which can also be reached by taking the underground railway from town. This is an area of sunny, open blue and red skiing, where the day would not be complete without a long lunch at one of the wonderfully rustic restaurants at Findeln.
For those who like a little something extra along with their skiing, the Klein Matterhorn cable-car provides all the excitement of a James Bond film! The views down the glacier are stunning and the crevasses and peaks awesome. At the top, take a breather to acclimatise to the thin air before your descent by admiring the ice sculptures in the ice grotto cut into the glacier.
Free Zermatt Criss-Cross Service
With the Klein Matterhorn and Sunegga lifts at opposite ends of the resort, we have a super system whereby skis or snowboards rented from our partner shop, and boots too, can be left free of charge at the hire-shop at either base station to be taken overnight to the other lift (local charge for equipment not hired from our partner shop). Next morning you can then simply head straight up the other side of the ski area, with none of the hassle of carrying your kit right across town!
