St Anton Snow Reoprt 12/04/2013

Here is the latest snow report from our team in St Anton

There is 240cm of snow at the top of the St Anton ski area with 55cm of snow in resort. The last snowfall was on  11th April with around 5cm falling.

There are 82% of pistes open in the St Anton ski area with 91% ski lifts open.

Spring weather will settle in throughout the upcoming days. These conditions are caused by a high-pressure area which will build up over the Alps behind a cold front forecast for Friday. However, bright sunshine is expected for most of the week with clear skies Monday & Tuesday & milder temperatures continuing before Friday.

The previous week has seen a decent amount of snow which will help in the upcoming week. We are due to have warm weather & blue skies Monday & Tuesday with milder conditions approaching
throughout the week. With last weeks snowfall this should make for nice ski conditions & bluebird weather. Friday is due to be a lot colder which may bring in some extra snow for a final carve up at end of week!

Nassereiner Season End Party 2013: 14.04.13  We celebrate the season end with a party starting at 12 a.m. at the parking area Nasserein!! With music and good atmoshpere we enjoy some drinks and nice food!  The oranisation team and the Nassereiner companies are looking forward to welcome you! The net profit will sponsered to the moutain rescue, fire brigade and a social facility!

Description

Ski Range 1,300m – 2,820m

With the biggest ski area in Austria, you will only scratch the surface of the Arlberg’s possibilities in a week.

The snow cover here is exceptional. With high altitude slopes and an underlay of man-made snow on the lower pistes, good skiing is ensured through until late April.

Ski Packs

Pre-bookable Ski Packs

We are pleased to offer you a convenient pre-bookable service for ski/board and boot hire, tuition and lift passes. The big advantages are that everything is arranged for you in advance, prices are guaranteed against currency fluctuation, and you can relax and look forward to a smoother first day in resort.

Your equipment hire and lesson vouchers will be in your Welcome Pack ready for you immediately on arrival, and your lift passes will be delivered to you either on arrival or by breakfast time on your first morning, so you can hit the slopes without delay.

Ski School

The Arlberg and St Anton ski-schools meet in the centre of St Anton. Special classes are taken in powder, spring snow and ski touring, and lessons are English-speaking.

Some classes are pre-bookable, others may be arranged locally with your Ski Total representative.

There is a ski-kindergarten for 3-5 year olds from 9 am to 4.30 pm, while for 6 to 12 year olds, children’s ski school lessons are available.

Aprés Ski

St Anton is justly renowned for its extensive and lively après ski scene. For the energetic, there is ice-skating, tobogganing, and indoor tennis, plus the superb new Wellness Centre, then having worked up a good thirst, there are about 24 good bars to choose from!

On the slopes you can stop off at the infamous Krazy Kangeruh or Mooserwirt, where the distinction between ski and après ski can get a bit blurred!

Later there are a host of nocturnal hangouts for every mood, like the Hacienda or Piccadilly bars and the Kandahar restaurant and nightclub.

Our resort team will also organise a few fun things during the week, if you wish to join us, and there is an excellent and varied choice of restaurants to sample on your chalet hosts’ one evening off.

The Skiing

The Arlberg is a connoisseur’s region, and thoroughly deserves its unrivalled reputation as Austria’s Number One ski resort. Dedicated skiers return time after time to explore the inexhaustible network of slopes, including those of Stuben, St Christoph, Lech and Zürs, which are all covered, together with St Anton itself, on the Arlberg lift pass.

The beginners’ slopes are accessed by the recently upgraded gondola at Nasserein, whilst above the town the many runs are largely cruisy blues and reds, ideal for leisurely skiers and snowboarders just out to enjoy themselves.

St Anton’s main fame however lies a little further up the mountain, in the magical variety of consistently challenging skiing with fiendish blacks, exhilarating off-piste and bumps growing to daunting proportions for those hungry for a challenge. When powder and spring snow conditions are right, the off-piste here is unequalled, particularly on the upper slopes of the fabled Valluga area.

The Kapall and Galzig areas both provide plenty of variety and the Rendl slopes on the opposite side of the St Anton valley offer a further change of perspective. The Galzig also now boasts a new state-of-the-art 24 person gondola.

Ski to the bus stop at Rauz for the quickest access to Zürs and Lech, 7 and 15 minutes away respectively. Here, wide expanses of high-altitude skiing will keep any skier happy for weeks.
