The Skiing
Renowned as the world’s biggest international ski area, the wonderful Portes du Soleil is an ideal area for skiers of all levels. With an inviting 650kms of pistes to choose from, ranging from picturesque tree-clad slopes to enormous, sunny, open high altitude snow-bowls, there really is something for everyone here.
Around Les Gets itself, the friendly skiing terrain is perfect for beginners and intermediates to enjoy. Opposite the village’s main Chavannes ski slopes is the smaller Mont Chéry area, with satisfyingly long runs and some excellent bumps. Higher up, on the 53 lifts linked with Morzine on the local lift pass, there is also a good range of skiing for the more experienced skier or boarder.
Looking across the system as a whole, there is a formidable range of skiing available on the huge Portes du Soleil area, with one well-priced pass covering all 14 resorts. Avoriaz is easily reached either via the Super-Morzine gondola, or you may prefer the short ski-bus ride to the lifts at Prodain, taking you straight to the centre of Avoriaz.
With an early start and the help of our ski host, you can have a superb day out taking a glorious circular tour via Avoriaz, Switzerland and Châtel, before returning home. To complete the perfect ski day, there is also a good variety of reasonably priced mountain restaurants and huts, for a leisurely vin chaud or lunch break.
