Chalets and ski chalet holidays are designed to be a ‘home-from-home’ without you having to do any of the work! The friendly camaraderie of a catered chalet skiing holiday with friends is relaxed, convivial and stress-free, and it is here that Ski Total’s specialist knowledge, 28 years experience and attention to detail really come to the fore. We give you a comfortable, informal and relaxed environment, with great food and service – for many skiers one of Ski Total catered chalets is simply the only way to go for the perfect chalet skiing holiday.
Our catered chalets range in size from cosy 4-6-person properties, ideal for a small group of friends or larger families, up to converted hotels sleeping up to 70 people.
Getting a party of ski friends together to take a whole chalet to yourselves is many people’s favourite option, but of course you are welcome to join one of our chalets as an individual, a couple, a family , or a group of any size, and you can book the whole or a part of a chalet, as you like.
We strive to make every Ski Total chalet comfortable and welcoming for you, so many have a crackling log fire to welcome you home from the slopes, and a mp3 dock and cards or board games are always available, and sometimes a DVD-player – bring your favourite DVD’s! As with the quality of our food, wine and service, these are just as much a feature of our simpler chalets as of our superb top of the range properties, which you will find in many resorts.
When choosing a chalet, skiing from the doorstep is just one popular criterion along with a hot tub, sauna or even swimming pool. Over 50% of our catered chalets offer one of these features.Your chalet hosts are selected not just for their cooking skills – important as these undoubtedly are – but also for their friendly personality and ability to help you get the very most from your skiing; chalets provide the ideal atmosphere for chat and sharing knowledge and experience, so if there is anything at all our resort team can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Ski Total Diamond Chalet Ratings
To help you with your chalet choice, we show our Ski Total diamond rating guide for all our chalets and Chalet Hotels as follows.
a comfortable, no-frills chalet, offering excellent value for money.
a chalet offering superior levels of style and comfort in all living areas, and generally with en suite facilities in most bedrooms.
with outstanding facilities and elegant comfort, these are our top of the range chalets, ranking amongst the very finest in the Alps.
"PLUS" attached to any of the above Ski Total ratings, our ‘Plus’ grading signals a chalet with something extra special within its grade. This may be the luxury of a private sauna or hot-tub for example, a particularly convenient location, sensational views, or just that indefinable ‘je-ne-sais-quoi’ which has made the chalet a favourite with Ski Total guests.
With no official rating system for chalets in existence, our diamond rating is based on senior management inspections, coupled with guest feedback over the years. We hope you find it useful in making your selection!
Christmas & New Year Celebrations
There is no more perfect way to celebrate Christmas with family and friends than in one of our cosy chalets. Swap the dreary grey of a British December for the sparkling winter wonderland of the Alps, a crackling log fire to gather round and open your presents, and best of all, a friendly and welcoming chalet host to do all the cooking for you - and all the washing up!
All our chalets offer a traditional Christmas dinner for guests of all ages together, with a glass of Champagne to launch the festive spirit, roast turkey with all the trimmings, Christmas pudding, mince pies and crackers. If you have children of 8 years or under in your party, Santa Claus will also pay a visit, dropping by during the evening to see these younger guests.
On New Year’s Eve, we serve a special celebration menu, with Champagne to start, and many resorts will have firework displays or other festivities at midnight to welcome in the New Year.
Room Descriptions
To make descriptions even clearer, we use the term ‘Suite’ to describe accommodation with two distinctly separate sleeping areas, whilst ‘Room’ indicates that all beds are in one area.
Adult-Only Chalets
Even on the peak family dates, we are generally able to designate a chalet as ‘Adult-Only’ (i.e. no children under 13) if this is important to you, and you are booking more than half that chalet early enough that no family guests have already booked*. Please just ask our Reservations Advisory team at the time of booking. Naturally, any chalet on any date can be adult-only if booked by one party for exclusive use.
Empty Bed Supplements
If you want exclusive use of a chalet up to 25 beds, but can’t quite fill the last bed, you can pay an empty bed supplement of just one third of the full current air-inclusive basic price.
If you wish to under-occupy by more than one bed the full current basic price is payable for any other empty beds.
In larger chalets or chalet hotels of 26 beds or more, no more than two under-occupancy supplements are available per property.
No-Smoking Policy
For the greater comfort and safety of all our guests, we have a complete no-smoking policy for all our charter flights, coaches, minibuses, chalets and Chalet Hotels. For those who wish to smoke, there is generally a balcony or terrace available – so bring your fleece!
* Please note that we cannot accept responsibility for the presence of children under 13 in an ‘adult-only’ chalet where guests have concealed from us that they are travelling with children, and have booked them in as full-paying adults.
